Joyce Lorraine (Fausnaugh) Donaldson

Joyce Donaldson went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, November 20, 2020 after a gradual decline in health.  

Joyce, age 92 was born on August 22, 1928 in Three Rives, MI to Harold and Edna Fausnaugh.  She lived many places as a child.  She began her married life in Kalamazoo, MI, moved to Davison, MI where she expanded her family with 2 children.  The family moved to Jackson where she resided for 46 years.  Her final years were spent at Clark Retirement Home in Grand Rapids, MI.   

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard H. Donaldson and her parents, Harold and Edna Fausnaugh.  She is survived by her son Lee (Mary) and daughter Diane (David), grandchildren – Kristen (Steve), Andy, Allison and Emily and her great-granddaughter Maggie Joy. 

A graduate of Western Michigan University & Albion College, Joyce touched many lives in her role as a vocal music teacher for K-12 students and later in Kindergarten and Developmental Kindergarten classrooms.  She was a Past President of Tuesday Musicale and a member of Jackson Tuesday Musicale Chorus.  She was a member of P.E.O. Sorority.  She was also a soloist for many churches and choir director for several Junior Choirs.  

In college she was a member of the Omega Chi Gamma sorority and a cheerleader.  She loved to spend time on the water, swimming, and sailing.  She looked forward to the annual trip with her family to Lake Leelanau each summer. Her golf league and her garden were other ways she enjoyed being outdoors.

Joyce will be remembered for her radiant smile and warm personality.  She had a gift for making people feel special.
