Josephine “Jo” Marie (Abshire) Everett
Age 77, peacefully passed away on November 14, 2025, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, under the compassionate care of Hospice. Born on December 31, 1947, in Trenton, Michigan, Jo was a cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Fidelia England; her father, Elmer Abshire; her sisters, Bonnie Adams, and Toni (Jane) Yager; and her beloved husband, Alan Everett, whom she married on June 24, 1967.
Jo is survived by her children, Jeffery Everett, Chad (Dana) Everett, Jennifer (Chad) Hynes, and Brett (Julie) Everett; her grandchildren, Trenton (Lyndsay) Futrell, Logan (Savannah) Everett, Rylee Hynes, Caleb Everett, Maesyn (Jordan) Futrell, Braelyn Everett, and Berkely Everett; and her great-grandchildren, Parker Futrell, Delilah Futrell, Brextyn Everett, Madden Everett, and Violet Futrell.
A 1966 graduate of Clinton High School, Jo devoted 28 years to Jackson Public Schools, where her kindness, patience, and dedication left a lasting impression. She was also a respected elder of the Little River Band of Ottawa Tribe.
Family was the heart of Jo’s life. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She generously volunteered with the Hanover Horton Historical Society and the Hanover Food Pantry, and enjoyed antiquing, gardening, traveling, decorating, and spending time with her beloved dog, Zeus. Jo also fondly remembered her childhood up north, learning to hunt and fish with her uncles — a passion she carried throughout her life.
Jo will be remembered for her warmth, gentle spirit, and the love and joy she shared with everyone she met. Her presence brightened every room, and her legacy of kindness and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Celebration of Life will be Friday, November 21, 2025 at Watson Funeral Chapel on Spring Arbor Rd. Jackson, MI from 10am-12pm.
