Joseph Gibson Obituary

Joseph Willard Gibson of Napoleon Twp, MI went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home with his loving family by his side at the age of 80. Joe was the son of mother, Mary and step-father, Norwood Kemmer, born July 1, 1939 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carol Gibson; two daughters, Susan Brewer of Millersburg, MI and Joanna (Tom) Sisk of Jackson, MI; three grandchildren, Chelsea Loker, Erika (Ben) Rickman, and Keaton Brewer; six great-grandchildren, Maxx and Mia Loker, Arbor Hinkle, and Lyla, Emma, and Nola Rickman; two brothers, Don (Connie) Gibson and Robert Kemmer; nephew, Michael (Connie) Gibson; great-nephew, Tyler (Kelsey) Gibson; and brother-in-law, Ted (Jean) Hetherington; sister-in-law, Suzie Hetherington. Joe was preceded in death by his mother and step-father; two brothers, Harry Kemmer and Bill Kemmer; brother-in-law, Matt Hetherington.

He was a graduate of Jackson High School and attended Jackson Community College. Joe worked for 30 years at Wyman Gordon Co. where he was a Journeyman Machine Repairman. He attended Jackson Free Methodist Church. Joe was a member of the Brooklyn Sportsman’s Club and several different bowling leagues in the Jackson area. During his time in the bowling leagues he received the USBC award for a “300” game. Joe was an avid sportsman.  According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at the Jackson Free Methodist Church, 2829 Park Dr., Jackson, MI 49203 on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:30am with Pastors Tim Flickinger and Josh Turner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, 564 S. Main St., Suite 200, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 or Jackson Free Methodist Church Building Fund, 2829 Park Dr., Jackson, MI 49203.  The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:30am until the time of service at 11:30am.
