John George Voegeli, aka Mr Sonobuoy, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather from Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, Michigan.
John was born to the late Carl Voegeli and June O’Connor Voegeli of Chicago, Illinois. John is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Connie Jean Voegeli, his sons Michael Voegeli of Vandercook Lake and Richard (Rick) Lucas of Hillsdale, Michigan, and daughters Lauri Gillette of Panama City, Florida, Judy Smith of Traverse City, Michigan, and Terrie Hunt of Deltona, Florida; Siblings Darlene (Ron) Betts and Terry Voegeli; Grandchildren, Thomas (Katherine) Hunt Jr, Ricky Lucas, Nichole (DJ) Lamkey, Shannon Voegeli, Timothy (Carrie) Hunt, Nicholas (Samantha) Smith, Brent Voegeli, and Susan Voegeli; 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Voegeli, and his sister Caroleann Mullins.
John was a student at Vandercook Lake Schools and served our country as an Army Staff Sargent, then the National Guard. John retired from Spartan Electronics as Principal Electrical Engineer and was a 40-year member and a Commander of the American Legion Rose City Post 0324, Jackson, Michigan. John was courageous, and a patriotic, kind-hearted, gentle-spirited man with an extremely humble soul. He was a tinkerer at heart; there wasn’t a thing John could not fix.

The Funeral Service will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, Michigan, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 12:00 pm with full military service honors. There will be public visitation beginning at 10:00am until the time of service. The family graciously invites you to join them for a luncheon in John’s honor.
