John Whitney Potter, age 70, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, holding the hand of his beloved wife, Carolyn Rose Potter, of over 50 years.
John was born on June 28, 1954, in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He graduated high school at Parkside in 1972 and lived in Jackson, Michigan, for most of his life. In 1972, John enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War.
In 1976, at the age of 21, John married the love of his life, Carolyn Rose Potter, beginning a lifelong journey together. John leaves behind his “10 most treasured successes”: his beautiful wife, Carolyn Rose Potter, his two daughters, Danielle Cockream/Jamey and Nicole Potter/ Ryan McCormick, and his seven grandchildren, Seth Skinner, Raina Cockream, Autumn Skinner, Sophia Skinner, Mara Cockream, Junnah Cockream, and Finnley McCormick.
John’s presence was always a constant source of strength, love, and care. John had enormous compassion and integrity. He was exceptionally generous and selfless, extending kindness and support to everyone he encountered. He was always eager to offer a helping hand and share whatever he could, leaving a lasting imprint of compassion on all who crossed his path. John will forever be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and love for a good joke. He was profoundly wealthy in the richness of love, with an abundance of strong family bonds with each of his loved ones that transcended material wealth, leaving a legacy of deep connections and unwavering affection.
