John Thomas Campbell of Parma Michigan passed away on January 28th, 2026 at 82 years old with his family by his side.
John was born on September 29, 1943 in Jackson, Michigan to Grover and Alice, and graduated from High School at Spring Arbor Academy in 1960. Within a few years he began a journeyman electricians’ apprenticeship program. He began his lifelong career in the field and was employed at Aladdin Electric for many happy years. At retirement, he continued working for years on his property and in his beloved orchard and gardens.
Even in his final days, he spent time dreaming of places like Lime Lake where he spent many years of his life swimming and taking his family for outings. It was a source of comfort and memories that he held onto despite so many others that seemed to fade.
He was married to Carole Sue (Alexander) Campbell for 46 years, only separated with her passing in 2009. Proceeded in Death also by his parents Grover & Alice, and his sisters Thelma & Diane. He is survived by his daughter Sheila Sue Schanne (husband Mark), granddaughter Cassandra Nicole Spicer (husband Christopher), and grandson Jason Armand Schanne and John’s brother Wayne.
He is remembered fondly as ‘Grandpa Campbell’, as he and Carole were always there to host sleepovers, take the grandkids fishing or on a hike through the woods, swimming in the ponds, picking fruit in the orchards, and so much more. John was just as generous with strangers, using his hobbies to share produce from his orchard and vegetable gardens, along with items made in his woodworking shop. For all of these reasons, while he will be missed greatly, his legacy will live on in the memories of his family and all he shared his generosity and talents with.
The family will be holding a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in honor of his love of dogs, his lifelong companions, please make donations in his honor to the organization: Love From Louie (https://www.facebook.com/LoveFromLouie)
