Of Parma, Michigan went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 17, 2020 RidgeCrest Health Campus at the age of 89. She was the daughter of Foster Everett and Vera Rae (Snow) Dawson born November 7, 1931 in Jackson, Michigan. Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Kenneth L. Pittelkow; her parents; grandchildren Baby Pittelkow and Amanda DeWaters; sister, Mary Jane Sipe; brother, Duane Dawson. Joan is survived by three children, Pam (Bill) Bisonet, Kent (Kathy) Pittelkow and Prudie (Mike) DeWaters; seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Aaron) Skinner, Renee (Nick) Reilly, Joseph Pittelkow “Mary Baldwin”, Andrew (Maegan) Pittelkow, Brian Pittelkow “Rochelle Wadsworth”, Jessica DeWaters “Austin Funk” and Mallory DeWaters; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Sipe; sister-in-law, Mary Beth Dawson. Joan was a Parma High School graduate. She worked for Consumers Energy then was office manager for Ken Pittelkow Builders for 46+ years. She also volunteered at W.A. Foote Hospital now Henry Ford Allegiance Health for over 30 years. She was a member of Parma United Methodist Church and Sandstone Congregational Church. Joan enjoyed knitting at the Happy Hookers Club, making hats, blankets, gloves and sweaters for all the newborns. She also enjoyed reading, the Literary Club, spending time with her family, gardening, going up north to the cabin, square dancing and golfing. A private family service will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 12:00pm with Dr. Brad Smith officiating. Interment following in Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Greatlakes Chapter, 564 South Main Street, Suite 200, Ann Arbor Michigan 48104.
