Joan E Peterson

Joan Elaine (Foster) Peterson, 88, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026.  Born on November 2, 1937, in Jackson, Michigan, Joan lived a life marked by faith, gratitude, and a deep love for her family.

Joan pursued her passion for education with dedication and devotion. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Cedarville University and later achieved a Master of Education from Wright State University.  Her commitment to learning and teaching left an indelible mark on those she encountered throughout her career. 

Joan’s greatest joy was her family.  She is lovingly remembered by her children: Tim Peterson; Marsha and Eric Kindig; Matthew and Michelle Peterson; and Melissa Pfeifer.  She was also a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and their spouses; as well as a great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren.  Joan cherished every moment spent with her family, investing her time and love into her nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rex and Evelyn Foster; her sisters, Carol Farmer and Marge Hartford; and her brother, Michael Foster. Their memories remained close to Joan’s heart throughout her life.

Joan’s unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a prayer warrior. She found strength in God’s goodness and shared that faith with others through her words and actions. Known for the ever-present smile on her face and her grateful spirit, Joan brought light to everyone she met.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.  May the memory of Joan Elaine Peterson bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Parma Baptist Church, 10320 East Michigan Avenue, Parma, Michigan with visitation held from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. A luncheon at the church will be held immediately following the service.
