Joan L. (Boettcher) Lynn

Joan L. (Boettcher) Lynn of Jackson, Michigan, 88 years old, went to be with her Lord on October 6, 2023. Born in Lansing, Michigan on November 27, 1934 to Charles and Mabel Boettcher, Joan was a dedicated and loving mom, grandma and great-grandma. She giggled and laughed so hard she couldn’t get a word out, especially at the antics of her family or wildlife. She was happiest when barefoot, surprisingly stubborn and thought everything and everyone around her was fascinating. Joan loved plants, floral design and being out in nature. She flew to Japan to marry her husband, William (Bill) Lynn in 1955, and they were dedicated to each other for over 60 years. Joan always chose chocolate, loved Chinese buffets, and would rather pick up rocks at Lake Superior than stay in a fancy hotel. She had boundless energy and, after working in her gardens and swimming 150 laps, she and Bill would often go out dancing. Joan and Bill’s home was filled with her original paintings and fired clay pieces, and in later years the antiques they collected on their travels. They shared their space with friends and family, youth groups and seminary students, whether at home or on vacation. She was active in whatever church she was attending, especially singing in the choir.  She is survived by six children, William (Susan) Lynn, Laura Lynn, Chris Commet, Steve (Cathy) Lynn, Matt (Kelly Bergman) Lynn and Kathy (Dan) Alexander, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and her sisters Doris Juchartz and Eleanor Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and sister Ina VanSetters. At her request cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11 AM, with a visitation one hour prior, at Faith Baptist Church of Chelsea, 4030 Kalmbach Road, Chelsea, Michigan 48118.
