Obituary

Jill Rieman, 83, of Jackson, MI, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of May 6, 2022, at the Highland Assisted Living & Memory Care home, under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice. She was the daughter of Earl and Melba Bennington, born on November 21, 1938 in Adrian, MI. She is survived by her siblings Jim Bennington and Joy (Don) Schmidt; the love of her life, Dick Banovic; her 3 boys, Andy (Cat) Rieman, Matt (Jenn) Rieman and Tim (Janelle) Rieman; grandchildren Alex Rieman, Scott Rieman, Libby Rieman, Alissa Myers, Bailee (Jake) Wisnaski, Jennessa Eggleston, Sydni Rieman, Spencer Rieman, and Raegan Rieman; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend Joan Karazim.

Jill graduated from Adrian High School (1956) and Eastern Michigan University (1960). She was a retired educator, spending the majority of her career teaching middle school/junior high home economics for Jackson Public Schools. In retirement, she enjoyed working part-time at Bowlerama and Summit Lanes, and at the Sharp Park Golf Learning Center. She was a long-time member of Jackson’s First Presbyterian Church, serving the church as a deacon and an offering counter. She enjoyed bowling in many leagues around Jackson for her entire adult life, watching her grandkids in their many sports and activities, listening to her beloved Detroit Tigers on the radio, and traveling with Dick on cruises and visits to “their” cottage in northern Michigan.

According to her request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her Life will take place at Jackson’s First Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 20 (Visitation @ 10 AM, Memorial @ 11 AM), with Pastor Karen Kelley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
