Jerry Richard Jenkins of Jackson, Michigan our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called home to his Lord on Friday, May 17, 2024 in Jackson, MI. Jerry was born April 25, 1938 in Hillsdale, MI the son of Veryl and Carma Jenkins. He graduated from Hillsdale High School, Jackson Business University, and Siena Heights College with a Bachelor of Arts in both accounting and business administration. He worked as controller, then was made administrator of the Osteopathic Hospital in Jackson. He formed his own accounting business and later retired. He worked for Budd’s All Tractor part-time after retirement. Jerry was a member of the Rotary Club of Jackson, noon club for 49 years; Disability Connections, serving as a board member; and served as a member of many other boards. He was also a member since 1972 of the Jackson Breakfast Rotary – transferred to Breakfast Club in 2023. He was honored by the Rotary Club for 52 years of perfect attendance. He enjoyed wood working, making cutting boards and giving them away.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Sarah A. Jenkins; 2 daughters, Marcia (Carl) Jenkins-Ball, and Colleen (Gary) Clark; “honorary son” Keith (MaryJo) Budd; 4 grandchildren, Chad (Quashawn) Stewart, Corrie (Shauntez) Wilder, Andrew Ball, and Sawyer Ball; 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Suzanne and Karan Jenkins.
The Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 24, 2024 at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, MI 49203. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 23, and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Friday at Watson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be 2:30 P.M. Friday at Northlawn Cemetery, Adams Twp., Hillsdale Co., MI.
