Jerry, age 85 of Pleasant Lake passed away Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, after a short battle with multiple health issues. Jerry was born in Jackson, Michigan, on August 6, 1938 to Leland and Eunice Miller, the first of seven children.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth (Trowbridge) Miller, and five children: Michael Lynn (Vicki) Miller, Michelle Louise (David) Jansma, Mark Lawrence (Nancy) Miller, Merrie Lee (Jeffrey) Witkowski, and Matthew Lee (Amy) Miller. Jerry was also survived by 11 grandchildren, as well as siblings Phil (Sandy) Miller, Denise (Phil) Moffitt, and Earleen (Dave) Grzesek. He was preceded in death by siblings Leland R Miller, Melody Miller, and Brian Miller.
Jerry graduated in 1956 from Jackson High School, and soon after moved to Washington, D.C. where he was employed by the FBI in the fingerprint division. After marrying Ruth they returned to Jackson to start their family. Jerry then worked a number of years at Kent Moore Corp., Fuelgas, and later at Gee Farms, from which he retired.
Jerry was previously a member of Men’s Garden Club and Jackson Dahlia Society; he had the ultimate “green thumb” with his love and knowledge of plants, flowers, trees, and all things growing. This love was surpassed only by his love for his family.
Donations in Jerry’s name may be made to the Jackson Interfaith Shelter– or just plant a tree.
Special thanks to Allegra Rehab staff for their wonderful and compassionate care of Jerry at the end.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest at Roseland Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 11:00am.
