Jeff was born in Hasty, Arkansas to Arthur and Leona Stinnett.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean war. This enabled him to pursue his education completing a Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas.
In 1959, a teacher recruitment enticed both Jeff, and his future wife LaNelle Leonard, to move to Jackson, MI. They wed three years later in Saginaw, Michigan. Their marriage continued for 53 years before her death. Together they raised 2 sons, Steve and Scott. Jeff enjoyed driving, traveling with his family across the country during summer breaks. He also enjoyed home improvement projects, his gardens, upholstering furniture and chocolate milkshakes. He was the best Big Daddy to his grandchildren, making sure the pool was always warm for them to swim in.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lanelle, his parents and siblings. Jeff is survived by his sons, Steve (Gwen) of Dexter, MI and Scott (Laura) of Louisville, KY; his grandchildren Sarah and Katie, Amelia and Brady; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private graveside service.
