Jeanne Marie Thomas, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Henry Ford Hospice House in Jackson, Michigan. She was 94 years old. Born on March 8, 1932, in Ironwood, Michigan, to Esther and John Anderson, Jeanne’s life was a testament to kindness, service, and devotion to her family, community, and faith.

Jeanne graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1950, followed by her training as a Registered Nurse at Evanston Hospital School of Nursing in Illinois. Afterward, she dedicated her nursing career to serving the Jackson community, working at the Jackson County Health Department.

On August 28, 1954, Jeanne married David Ray Thomas, and together they raised a family built on love and care. She was also a devoted grandmother to Shon (Taylor) Thomas, Matt (Anna) Thomas, Geoffrey (Elizabeth) Thomas, Michael (Athena) Thomas, Nichelle (Lucas) Artin, Samuel (Makayla) Eilerman, and Scott (Mary) Eilerman and a great-grandmother to Brooklyn, Weston, Rory, Marshall, Graham, Connor, Damon, Jordan, Makayla and Christian.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Thomas, her brother John Anderson, and her brother-in-law Russ Russler. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Ruth Russler, sister-in-law Nancy Anderson and many extended family members and friends who cherished her gentle spirit and unwavering love.

A longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jeanne’s commitment to her faith was evident in her active involvement. She served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Church Council in several leadership roles, and as President of the Lutheran Church Women organization. Jeanne was also a frequent volunteer at St. James Saturday School for adults with intellectual disabilities, a testament to her compassionate nature and dedication to service.

Outside of her church and family life, Jeanne had many hobbies she enjoyed, including knitting and baking, and she was known for her warmth and hospitality.
