Mead, Janette L. of Springport, MI., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 23, 2025, age 71. Born March 6, 1954 in Jackson, MI the daughter of John & Rosemary Reule. Janette was married to Edward Mead for 26 years until his passing on October 16, 2023. She worked at Mead Brothers Excavating starting in coop-her senior year at age 17 until 2024. She enjoyed raising “Jet Line” Bluetick coon hounds with Ed. She was Bluetick Breeder of America Treasurer for numerous years.
Surviving are daughter, Sara (Dylan) Bullinger; sons, Jeff Southwick, Jeff (Michele) Mead, Scott (Shelly) Mead, Todd (Deanna) Mead, and Keith (Tina) Mead; Three grandchildren, Connor and Reid Bullinger, Cole Southwick and 11 more grandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jo (Jerry) Anderson; brother John (Paula) Reule; sister, Robyn (Tom) Nyenhuis; several nieces and nephews. special friends, Debbie & Jeff Hovious, Jan and Ashley Buchanon, and Wendy Chamberlain. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Heather; son, Mychael Southwick; grandson, Chase Mead.
Janette was a dedicated wife, loving mom and grandmother. She was an avid reader, outstanding cook, loved animals, and had a “green thumb”.
Mrs. Mead is at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Rd, Jackson, MI where services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025 with Phillip Mead officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral chapel from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday March 26 and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Pope Church Cemetery.
