Janet Marie “Jan” Harr
of Jackson, Michigan
Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was called home to her Lord Jesus on Monday, January 8, 2024. Born July 10, 1940 in Jackson, Michigan the daughter of Roy & Mary Navarre. Jan was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary High School. Jan and her husband owned and operated Pixie Mart in Jackson until 1985. They moved to Traverse City, Michigan in 1985 and lived there till 2009. She retired from Tom’s Food Market in Traverse City after 25 years of service. She enjoyed reading and had a personality who could start a conversation and make a friend everywhere she went. She was a devoted member and past-president of the ladies’ aid at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her 2 daughters, Kelly (Bob) Ackley of Jackson, and Cindy (Craig) Belt of Cadillac; 2 sons, Joseph Murphy (Donna Spoelman) of Grand Rapids, and Keith (Sharon) Harr of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Andrew (Rebecca) Belt, Joshua (Karlie) Belt, Emily (Matthew) Duggins, Christopher Harr, and Joseph, David, and Samantha Murphy, and Shannon Ackley; 3 great-grandchildren, Donovan Belt, Gabriel Belt, and Lizzie Belt; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Harr in 2007; her parents; sister, Virginia Carr; 2 brothers William Navarre, and Gerald Navarre.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 19, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 122 W. Wesley St., Jackson, MI with Rev. Derek Riddle, Pastor officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Friday at church prior to services. Jan will be laid to rest next to her husband at Roseland Memorial Park.
