Jane Myers Obituary

Jane Lou (Hershberger) Myers, age 70, passed away on July 2, 2024 at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, MI.  Her husband, Dave, niece Antosia Myers and nephew Max Myers, both of Hastings, MI, were with her at her side.

Jane was born and raised in Coopersville Michigan.  She graduated from Coopersville High School in 1971 and Ferris State College in 1973.  She married Dave, her college sweetheart, in 1974 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 16, 2024.  Jane and Dave moved to work in Jackson, MI, shortly after they were married.  Jane worked in the medical field for over 25 years and retired in 2010 from Jackson Allegiance Hospital as a surgery scheduler, a job she was most proud of and performed with great dedication and detail.  Having no children, she loved her pets as her children.  During their 50+ years together, the variety of pets included three horses, four birds, three cats and ten dogs.  She named every one of them.  She loved to camp with family and friends mostly here in Michigan. She also camped with her horse and dogs through the years.  She was honest, hard-working, generous, faithful, and a spiritual human being.  Because of her medical background and willing to help those around her, she was often lovingly referred to as Dr. Jane.  She was funny, outgoing and had an infectious laugh.

Jane was preceded in death by parents, Russell and Sally Hershberger, brother Earl Hershberger, father and mother-in-law, Max and Barbara Myers, brother-in-law, William Myers, and many aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, Dave of Jackson, MI, niece Amy (Brent) Sitzer of Conklin, MI, nephew Ken (Meg) Hershberger of Conklin, MI, sisters-in-law Gayle Marsh of Hastings, MI, Betty (Jack) Busman of Coopersville, MI and Kim Myers of Onalaska, WI, brothers-in-law Don (Karen) Myers of Hastings, MI, Denny Myers, Greg (Jeanne) Myers of Loveland, CO, and many other beloved nieces and nephews along with their children.

The celebration of Jane’s life will be at 11 AM Monday, July 15, 2024 at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Rd., Jackson, MI 49203 with Reverend Bill Dodge officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM on that Monday prior to services.  She will be laid to rest at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in the mausoleum off Elm Rd. in Jackson, MI.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Henry Ford Hospice Home or Alzheimer’s – Dementia Association in memory of Jane.
