James O. Ward of Horton, MI, age 91, passed away peacefully at home in Horton surrounded by his loving family on March 5, 2024. He was born on October 26, 1932, in Parma, Michigan, the son of Albert and Merle Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Albert Ward, Lyle Ward, Lawrence Ward, and Max Ward, his sisters, Helen Griffes, and Marie Beasore, and his Grandson, Christopher Magness. He is survived by his wife Norma Ward of 71 years; two sisters Dora Vokoun and Irene Schmees; daughters Cindy (Randy) Magness, Cathy (Craig) McKinney, Charlene (Donald) Hughes, and Penny (Larry) Monroe; grandchildren Michele (Brandon) Cave, Jared (Heather) McKinney, Jaime (Jason) Collins, Sarah Wojciechowski, Stephanie Benson, Donald (Olivia) Hughes Jr., Melissa Hughes, Brittany (Nick) Wolf, and Tyler Monroe; 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 to serve his country. He worked at Kelsey Hayes for 39 years as a set- up man and foreman, where he retired. James enjoyed many activities such as woodworking, gardening, boating, golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling, and vacationing at the cabin up north. James was a very hard worker, loved life and his family. In memory of James, a service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Concord, 201 Hanover St., Concord, MI 49237 on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the service at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Concord Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Hillsdale County.
