James W. Briggs of Jackson passed away on May 3, 2020 at age 74 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Edwina B. (Allan) Briggs, his first wife Melinda Straayer and loving wife of 29 years, Judi Henry, and sister, Linda Kiszka. He is survived by brothers, Melvin (Susie) and Patrick (Judy); children Crystal (Brian) Hamlin, Jennifer (Chris) Whitford, Brian Briggs and Ernie VanWoert; seven grandchildren, Teddy (Elisabeth), Corey (Brittany), Talore, Hudson, Caitlyn, Reagan, Lynkin, and one great-grandaughter Avery. He was a retired proto-type engineer from Aeroquip/Eaton, held office with the Saturday Night Mixers Bowling League at Airport Lanes for many years, owner of the West Michigan Sand Dragway, Silver Lake Mi, was a Veteran U.S. Army Mechanic from 1963-1965 and earned an Associates Degree from Jackson Community College. His hobbies included building race cars, fishing and family. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of his life will be held at a later time.
