Jack Fred Jackson, son of John and Mary Jackson, born May 1, 1937 passed away June 30, 2023 peacefully at his lake home, with his family at his side. He grew up working in his father’s business, Modern Paint & Supply, attended Jackson Junior College, then went on to graduate from Michigan State University. He became employed there in the University of Nigeria program, and then in their foreign students program. Later, he worked at Spartan Corporation, and then at Commonwealth Associates. In 1972 he and his wife Delores started the Horton House, an interior design studio, which they ran together for 39 years. He served with the Army National Guard for 8 years, on the Summit Township Board of Review for many years, and was a host greeter at Potter Center for 40 years. He had a heart for serving others. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, boating, and especially loved dancing and socializing. He was a member of many dance clubs, and a member of the American Legion. He loved his family and he loved people. He never met a stranger!
He is survived by his wife, Delores of 65 years, son, Jeffrey (Teresa) of Concord, MI son, John (Darla) of Waterloo, IN, grandchildren, John Jr, Aubrey (Simeon), Leland, Elaina, Natale, and Lilian, along with two great grandchildren Nathaniel and Matthew.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00am. Visitation will be at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4:00-8:00pm and on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service.
