Howard Walter Patch

Howard was the son of Forrest V. and Kathryn A. (Morgan) Patch. He was born September 10, 1938.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Merrie Christmas Patch; his parents; his brothers Lynn E. Patch and Morgan L. Patch; grandparents, Lacerne and Nellie Patch and William and Catherine Morgan.

Howard is survived by his children, Sarah K. Patch and Benjamin H. Patch, daughter-in-law Tamara S. Romanek, grandchildren Morgan E. Patch and Mason T. Patch; nephews Steve (Jane) Schultz, Greg (Ev) Schultz, Tom Meagher, and David (Holly) Patch; nieces Carolyn Burg and Anne (Jon) Cook; and his dear friend, Judith C. Andrews.

Howard was a graduate of Jackson High School, Jackson Junior College, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School.

He worked primarily in the areas of estate planning, estate and gift taxation, business and real estate.

Howard’s community activities included serving on the governing boards of W.A. Foote Memorial (Henry Ford Allegiance Health) Hospital, First Federal Savings & Loan Associations of Jackson and Kalamazoo, Jackson Community College Foundation, Kiwanis of Jackson Foundation and the Jackson chapter of the American Cancer Society. He also served on the governing boards of numerous family-owned businesses.

According to Howard’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel – 2590 Spring Arbor Road, in Jackson on Saturday, October 4th at 11:00am, with Reverend Edward Ross officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd, from 4:00-6:00pm at Watson Funeral Chapel.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kiwanis Foundation of Jackson County, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
