Hester Ann Christenson

Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025 at the age of 92.  She was born September 13, 1933 in Fremont, Michigan the daughter of Clarence and Leone (Anderson) Patterson.  She graduated in 1951 from Fremont High School, and later graduated in 1954 from Butterworth School of Nursing as a RN.  She was a surgical scrub nurse at Mercy Hospital, and later in her career was at Vista Granda Villa.  She enjoyed golfing and traveling.  She married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Hugh Christenson, on Nov. 6, 1954.  Together they loved their family, growing to 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  They shared 47 years of marriage until Wayne’s passing on Dec. 5, 2001.

Surviving are her children Susan (Dr. Fred) Slete, Janet (Tim) Bailey, and Kathy Christenson (partner Kevin Soladine); Grandchildren Lauren (Dr. Sean) Mohon, Dr. Kelsey (Dr. Trevor) Eckenswiller, Hannah (Kyle) Siporin, Mitchell Bailey and Will Bailey; Great-grandchildren Vivian, Jane, and Celine Mohon, Henrik and Vaughn Eckenswiller, and Leona Siporin.  She is also survived by her sisters Mary (Phil) Ernvall and Linda Leadley. 

The Celebration of Hester’s Life will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Rd, Jackson, MI with Michael D. Mason presiding.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday prior to services.  Interment will be at Spring Arbor Cemetery.
