Gerald C Shafer

Shafer, Gerald Charles of Albion, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Henry Ford Hospital, Jackson, Michigan.  He was born on September 9, 1937 in Jackson, Michigan to Harold Shafer and Olive Polly Shafer (Ladd).  Gerald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Esther Shafer (Whiting); his children, David Shafer (Pam), grandchildren Drew and Lexi Shafer; Doug (Penny) Shafer, grandchildren Erin, Ryan, and Sydney Shafer; his sister Susan McMaster (Jim) and their children, Morgan and Justin; Judy and Bill Hagadorn and their children, Todd, Kristy, and Kari. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Polly.   

Gerald was a graduate of Jackson High School, and Jackson Business University with and Associate’s Degree. He was the founder and owner-operator of Shafer Redi-Mix from 1982-Present.  He was an avid golfer and member of Duck Lake Country Club for 30 years and loved playing cards.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 at 12:00pm with a luncheon to follow at the Duck Lake Country Club, 2827 Country Club Way, Albion, MI.  49224
