Age 83, of Leoni Township passed away 12/31/20, born 2/13/37 to Michael and Bessie Husak who preceded him in death. George leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years Mary Husak, one son George (Connie) Husak; daughters Nicole (Chris) Zegarlowicz and April (Daniel) Ross. Grandchildren Lindsy (Keith) Roberts; Brad (Jen) Husak; Courtney (Josh) Kuenz; Alex (Jordan) Husak; Matt (Brittney) Husak; Sami Husak; Kaylie (Stacie) Clay; Nevaeh and Aubreyonna Ross; Gavin, Brennan, and Avery Zegarlowicz. One great grandson, Jaxson and one great granddaughter Raelynn. One brother, Harry Husak; brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Pelinnia Dirrim. Preceded in death one son, Todd Husak; Brothers Fred and Pete Husak; Sisters Polly and Anna.
George graduated from Assumption Catholic High School in Windsor, Canada where he was an allstar athlete. He helped lead the hockey team to become the WOSSA Champions his senior year, he was known to be one heck of a defenseman with a mean checking record as well as a slap shot most goalies feared. After high school George joined the Air Force and became a Military Policeman. His athleticism did not stop after high school in the Air Force he played baseball for his base and that allowed him to travel the world. After the military George ended up in the Ann Arbor area, then Indiana where he met his wife Mary they eventually settle down in Jackson. George and his brother Pete started Quality Filters where he enjoyed working up until his death. George also helped his sons start Solid Manufacturing Inc. which made him very proud.
George also had a love for the game of golf on any given Friday & Sunday he could be found at Pine Hollow, he passed that passion down to his children and grandchildren, if he wasn’t golfing you could find him at the VFW Post socializing with his friends.
George had many roles including foster parent, father role to the neighborhood kids, but most of all a family man. He was humble, kind, generous and had a work ethic like no other.
He will be missed especially by his family but by all those who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1:00pm. Interment at Maxon Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm and on Friday from 12:00pm until the time of service.
