George Econ Obituary

George D. Econ passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the age of 69 ½ at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, MI. Born in Detroit, MI to Dan and Angeliki (Dantos) Econ. George is survived by his wife, Wyma (Petrakovitz) of 44 years; son, Byron (Marie), granddaughter, Indigo; daughter, Andrea; brother, Eugene (Angela) Econ; brother and sister-in-laws, Tom and Jayne Maitland and Ted and Kathy Petrakovitz; and many nieces and nephews. He is a retired Professor from JCC (2010) and 7 ½ years volunteer at Jackson GIS mapping & digitizing Jackson Coal Mines, now are online. George loved glaciers, antique mechanical instruments. He was an avid reader, Lapidary, tinkerer, and gardener. George loved living in a garden and Sunday drives. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. So long, and thanks for all the fish. A family memorial service honoring George’s life will be held at a later date.
