Frank Edward Rose (March 11, 1927) went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 1, 2021 after a brief illness. He leaves his loving wife of nearly 73 years, Florence, and was preceded in death by his brother Julian, sister Esther, and son Val. Frank is survived by Val’s widow Louise, and his sons Mark (Donna), Tom (Paula) and Ralph (Seika), and 7 grandchildren. Frank was born in Kansas and grew up in Chicago. After graduating from Spring Arbor Junior College (MI) and then serving in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from Greenville College (IL) in 1949. Frank taught at General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan before attending Cornell University where he earned his Ph.D. in physics in 1964. He then taught physics and astronomy at the University of Michigan-Flint, until his retirement in 1994. Frank never stopped studying and wondering at God’s creation. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, mentor, friend and teacher, and in those roles, Frank enjoyed and frequently was the cause of a hearty laugh! He will be greatly missed. A memorial service is being planned for this summer.
