Fern Elaine Denning, of Jackson, Michigan, went to be with her Lord on October 28, 2024, 2 hours short of her 100th Birthday. Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 29, 1924, to Leonard and Erma (Martin) Borton.
Fern was a graduate of Vicksburg High School. On October 27, 1946, she married Everett Denning. She is survived by her daughter Diane (John) Laymon; son Blaine (Connae) Denning, daughter-in-law, Joyce Denning; grandchildren: Laura Laymon, Paul Laymon, Trevor Denning, Tana Denning, Ben Denning, Rebekah (Brad) Tess, David (Reta) Denning, and Nicholas James; 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Wanda Burris, Ardith Metty, Marilynn Sawyer, Dolores Smith, Charlyn Matthies, brother Verlyn Borton, and son Garlan Denning.
Besides being a wife and mother, she was a seamstress, working at Winzler Dry Cleaners, Al Gamez Tailoring and at home.
She had a generous heart, helping with multiple people. She was a good listener, and she and Everett enjoyed traveling and attending music (dulcimer) festivals. They made friends all across the country.
The family would like to express our appreciation for her care provided by Katie’s Place and Henry Ford Hospice Home.
A memorial service will be held on November 23, 2024 at 11:00am at Skiff Lake Bible Church, 8277 South Jackson Road – Clarklake. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of service.
Memorials are suggested to Skiff Lake Bible Church, Youth Haven, Center for Women, and Henry Ford Hospice Home.
