Ethel Jean (Stewart) Curtis passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at the age of 90. Ethel will be greatly missed by her loving son, Jay William Curtis; and her sister and best-friend, Norie (Stewart) Nealy.
She was born to James and Margaret Stewart on May 27, 1935 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania. Ethel was a graduate of Jackson High School in 1953 and was married to her loving husband, William E. Curtis for 60 years. She was a hard-working mother that retired from Michigan Bell Telephone company after 30 years of service. She enjoyed playing cards with her relatives, traveling, and going on shopping trips, as well as being a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was also very good at doing ceramics, and loved spending time with her two grandchildren, Travis and Tyler McClear.
She is survived by her sister, Norie (Stewart) Nealy and her brother-in-law, Wendell Nealy; sister-in-law, Sharon (Aukerman) Stewart; and many nieces and nephews. Shelley (Curtis) Dallas; Carol (Curtis) Cammet and many other in-laws within the Curtis family.
Ethel is preceded in death by her loving husband, William E. Curtis; their daughter, Jill Ann (Tim) McClear; brothers, H.R. “Buzz” (Ann) Stewart; James Stewart, Jr.; Raymond (Pete) Stewart; Russell (Phyllis) Stewart; Sister, Agnes (Stewart) Horn, and brother-in-law, Warren Horn.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.
