Of Jackson, MI passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the age of 85. He was the son of William and Gertrude (Potts) DeBruler, born December 11, 1937, in Jackson, MI. Buck is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mavis DeBruler; four children, Kelly (Tony) Fisher, Shelly (John) Taylor, Tammy (Andy) Barrett, Jack (Katie) Marsh; eight grandkids, Jessy, Paige, Jade, Nicholas, Claire, Brook, Madeline and River; two great-grandkids, Luna and Ace. He is also survived by his sister Shirley, and brothers Robert “Rook”, and Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertrude (Potts) DeBruler; son, Donnie; grandson, Tony; brothers, John, Ralph "Ollie", William, Roger and Charlie; and sisters, Roslyn, Bev, Mildred and Doris.
Buck was a retired Captain of the Jackson Fire Department. He played baseball as a left-handed pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies in the late 1950’s to early 1960’s. Buck owned and trained harness horses. He was Supervisor at the Jackson Harness Raceway and helped in maintaining the track. He was one of the wittiest/sarcastic guys around. Buck also loved scratching his lottery tickets and dreaming big, watching the Detroit Tigers. Also, one of the greatest last memories of Buck is he could always be quoted saying “Come On”.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at the family home on July 22, 2023 from 2:00pm -5:00pm.
