Ellis was surround by his family when he was called home to the Lord on Friday, February 23, 2024 after a short illness. He was born August 23, 1935 in Floyd County, Kentucky to son of Jack and Gracie Thornsbury.
He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Goodyear after 30 years of service. He enjoyed farming, gardening, but most he was a Christian man who never meet a stranger. He loved talking with people.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 60 years, Connie J. Thornsberry, who married October 31, 1964; 2 daughters, Roshelle “Shelly” (Lee) Gregory, and Tamara “Tami” Bail; 6 grandchildren, Nathan Bail, Daniel Bail, Mallory Moriarty, Alisha Gregory, Ericka (Joel) Ellis, and Garret Gregory; 4 great-grandchildren, Makenzie Bail, Isaac Parker, Brooks Ellis, and Karlie Moriarty; brothers and sisters, Jay (Barb) Thornsbury, Virgil Thornsbury, Florence Clemons, Syliva Atkins, Fannie (Buford) Cornwell, Dorothy (Luther) Baldridge, and Helen “Ruth” Thornsbury; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Tommy, Taylor, and Eileen.
The Celebration of Ellis’ Life will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 1, 2024, at Roseland Memorial Gardens Chapel with Military Honors and Rev. Price Porter officiating.
