On Tuesday, March 4th, in the early afternoon, Dr John A McNeil Jr.(Jack) went to be with the Lord at age 83. He was the son of John A McNeil Sr. and Lillian Bender (McNeil/Emery). He was a devoted husband for over 63 years to his wife Patricia, a father to his three sons Peter, Tony (Laura), and Jeff (Teresa), grandfather to 10 grandchildren, and great-grandfather to 12 great-grandkids. He was a physician for over 50 years in both Family Medicine and Psychiatry. He helped countless people with everything from childbirth to severe mental illness. He was born in Roscommon, Michigan, and graduated from Roscommon High School. Then received a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, and a medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa, and later became board certified as a Psychiatrist. He practiced medicine in Saginaw, Michigan, Rogers City, Michigan, West Des Moines, Iowa, Lansing, Michigan, and East Lansing, Michigan, and was a professor at Michigan State University, College of Family Medicine. He taught his sons to hunt, fish, be a good husband, father, protector, and servant. He was also a devoted Christian and set an example of what a Godly man should be.
Visitation: Friday, March 7th 5-7 pm at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson, MI. Visitation: Saturday, March 8th, 3 pm with Funeral following at 4 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Jackson, MI
