Of Spring Arbor, MI went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the age of 104. Dorothy was born at home to Floyd and Lelia (Stephens) Robinson in Marion, Indiana on December 8, 1915. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert King Sr; daughter, Lelia Bennett; sister, Alberta Ankney, and two brothers. Dorothy is survived by four children, Mary (Jerry) Lothrop of Shelton, NE, Joan (Larry) Minton of Spring Arbor, Robert (Dixie) King of Spring Arbor and Helen King of Spring Arbor; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1934. Dorothy worked for the president of Consumers Power Company as the supervisor of the household staff until her marriage to Robert on October 22, 1939. Dorothy was a farm wife, a devoted follower of Christ belonging to Spring Arbor Church of the Nazarene. Her legacy is one of faith in God, hard work, love of lifelong learning, and being at peace in life. The family would like to thank all the staff at Arbor Woods Assisted Living Center for their loving care. A celebration of her life will be held at the Spring Arbor Church of the Nazarene, 8200 King Rd., Spring Arbor, MI 49283 on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 11:00am with Pastor Lonny Bumgardner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions are suggested to the Spring Arbor Church of the Nazarene.
The family will receive friends at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 6:00-8:00pm and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.
