Donna Ruth Moore

Of Spring Arbor, MI, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, February 16, 2020, at the age of 88. She was the daughter of Edward and Lillie (Baxter) Browning, born September 21, 1931, in Pocasset, Oklahoma.  Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Dr. Darrell Moore; and her son, Reverend Marselle Moore. She is survived in death by three sons, Rodge Moore of Lawrence, Kansas; Royl Moore of Denver, Colorado; Sterling Moore of Seattle, Washington; daughter, Kimberly Moore-Jumonville of Spring Arbor, Michigan; five beloved daughters-in-law Linda Moore, Rebecca Moore, Carol Moore Rau, Lisa Henderson; and son-in-law, Robert Moore-Jumonville. Darrell and Donna also have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She graduated from college in 1952, married Darrell a few months later, birthed five children, and taught high school home economics at Jackson High School, Jackson, Michigan, from 1968 to 1987.  She and Darrell pastored churches for twelve years and then went on to raise their kids in the center of the Spring Arbor community they wanted to call home even after they had moved to other states. She supported Dad in his much-celebrated teaching and preaching career, and built a rustic lodge in the Ozarks with him intending to rest. That rest was short-lived; they moved back to Spring Arbor to build a house and retire among many people who remembered and welcomed them. Donna and Darrell loved nothing better than gathering with the family around their dinner table for food, fellowship, and song. Their faithfulness was rewarded by the rich blessing of family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mark Van Valin and grandson Reverend Jackson Moore officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
