Donald Marsh Davis, age 85, of Jackson, Michigan died Sunday January 11th at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson. Don was born in Keokuk, Iowa to Harley and Lucile Davis on October 19th, 1940, and graduated from Keokuk High School in 1959. Following high school, Don joined the Navy and was a proud member of the USS James Madison nuclear submarine where he served as a reactor operator. He was honorably discharged in 1967 and immediately began a civilian career that included domestic and international assignments in construction and power generation & distribution. Don worked for the University of Missouri, began the multi-national phase of his career with Townsend & Bottum, and then worked many years for Consumers Energy in Jackson before retiring.
Don enjoyed music immensely and attended the annual W.C. Handy Blues Festival with his youngest son Devin, establishing a festival streak lasting more than 30 years. In addition to spoiling his cats and listening to blues & jazz, his other passions included motorcycles, photography, and travel, all of which he shared and passed down to his children and grandchildren.
Don is survived by his three sons Dylan (Deborah), Dehan (Elizabeth), and Devin; his three grandchildren Evan, Zoe, and Quinn, his wife Angela and his ex-wife Deanna. Also surviving are his siblings, Barb Robinson, Ben Davis and Doug (Chris) Davis, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers-in-law Ron Robinson, Mike Snyder, Jon Snyder and Ken Smolinski and his nephew Mark Robinson. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to "Jackson Michigan Giving Back to the Community", https://jacksonmichigangivingback.org/ a local charity he was proud to support, or to the charity of your choice.
