Diane Marie Swikoski (Butler) went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2025 in Jackson, Michigan at the age of 75. She was born on February 11, 1950 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Gerald Dwight Butler and Christine Marie (Deanhofer) Butler.
She leaves behind her children Kristen (Kevin) Frey; Craig Gourley and his fiancé Amy; Derrick Combs and Robyn Combs. Grandchildren, Alex, Ashley, Nathan, Steven, Matthew, Savanna, Kyle, Dariana, Gabby, JD, Chloe, Tay and Christina; Great-grandchildren, Alayna, Dalton, Hunter, Ava and Eternity; and her sister, Patricia Locke.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Swikoski and son Douglas Gourley.
Diane graduated from Pioneer High School in 1967 and went on to pursue a career in nurse assisting at St. Joe Hospital. She worked in several other facilities providing care to those in need. Her commitment to helping others was matched only by her love for her children whom she raised with dedication.
Diane’s life was filled with creativity and joy. Her favorite color was purple, which was reflected in everything from her home décor to her car. She had a love for peacocks and her collection of peacock themed decorations brought beauty and light into her life. Diane was also passionate about crafting, painting ceramics and scrapbooking. Her greatest joy came from cooking for her family. She made sure that no one ever left her home hungry, preparing meals that filled both the stomach and the heart. Family was everything to her and the happiest moments of her life were spent surrounded by the ones she loved, whether gathered around the dinner table or a fun time out at the casino.
Diane was full of spark and she was always easy to pull a prank on. She will be so deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Diane’s wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor her memory.
