Dennis Rose Obituary

Dennis Alen Rose age 83 of Jackson, Blackman Township passed away on August 29, 2025 due to heart failure. His daughter and son were with him listening to Janis Joplin's Me and Bobby McGee when he passed.

A special thank you to the staff of Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson, everyone from Dr. "Redcoat" Girgis, who went above and beyond, to his nurses in 6 North, the Cath Lab, as well as in West Tower and ICU and his Cardiac and Nephrology Docs. Even the people cleaning his room and taking his food order and bringing his food were so positive and kind.

Dennis was born on July 23, 1942, in Stockbridge, Michigan, the son of Robert Rose and Dorothea Farrow. Dennis was the middle child, Bill was his older brother and Jacque his younger sister.

He graduated high school from Port Credit Secondary School in Mississauga, Canada and received his Bachelor of Science at Northeast Missouri State College in 1968.

Dennis served in the U.S. Army National Guard Military from March 1964 - March 1970 when he was honorably discharged.

Dennis had several wives and partners over his lifetime. His pride and joy were his kids and grandkids! He would go to their sporting events, concerts and ceremonies whenever he could! When he could play golf with them that was the icing on the cake!

Judy and Dennis wed in 1965 and had two children Heather and Chad Rose. Heather married Brett Russell and had 2 children, Simon and Wyatt. Chad has 2 children Tristan and Ava.

Renie Pomeroy was a partner of Dennis for many years and through this relationship he acquired his bonus son, Jeff Pomeroy who married Laura LeRoy who had 2 children Ashleigh and Abigail.

In 2001 he married Patricia, aka "Rielle", Marcoux and they enjoyed many years of love, music, dogs and laughter.

In recent years, his partner Bernadine Baldwin shared laughter, love, companionship and meals together.

All of his family and loved ones above survive Dennis.

As most people who know Dennis would know that his employment over the years was very eclectic! At his heart he was an entrepreneur and an idea man. In his younger years he worked at a lot of places that his father owned or franchised, such as a car dealership, gas station and B.B.M. Sign Company. To note some of his more "typical" jobs, he worked at IBM in sales, was a Business Instructor at Davenport College in Lansing and worked in Maintenance & Janitorial for Vandercook Lake Schools.

Music was an early passion for Dennis, when living in Spirit Lake, Iowa he attended live performances at the Roof Garden at Arnolds Park. He saw numerous acts of famous singers. However his highlight was sitting at the piano and drinking with Jerry Lee Lewis. Anytime there was karaoke, Dennis would perform "Great Balls of Fire". He enjoyed Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin and later in life enjoyed listening to his wife Rielle sing live.

Dennis enjoyed acting and did community theater in the late 1970's, early 1980's. Some of the plays he did were "The Solid Gold Cadillac", "Arsenic and Old Lace","Boys in the Band", and two of his favorite plays/roles; "Death of a Salesman" as Willy Loman and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" as Big Daddy.

However his lifelong love was golfing. He played in numerous leagues over the years and golfed right up until the last week before he went into the hospital. Some of the golf highlights that he enjoyed immensely was golfing in Maggie Valley, NC, volunteering at the PRASCO Tournament at the TPC River's Bend Golf Course in Maineville, OH and then later playing that course, golfing in Edinburgh, Scotland with his daughter, and in the last month he played at Meadowbrook Country Club with his son.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Bob and Dorothea Rose, brother in-laws Eddie Porzolt and Lynn Owen. He is survived by his brother Bill (Joanne) and their children & grandchildren, his sister Jacque Owen and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend Doc Larry Porzolt, whom he shared various adventures with and lived vicariously through.

Dennis lived a full, vibrant life marked by love, passion, adventure and lived life on his own terms.
