Dennis Ray Maurer

Maurer, Dennis R. “Denny”, of Michigan Center, passed away on July 4, 2026 at the age of 81. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda “Buzzy”; Son, Brent (Jessica) Maurer, of Napoleon; Daughter, Heather (Ron) Marienfeld, of Michigan Center; five grandchildren, Colin (Ashley) Maurer, Cole Maurer, Max Marienfeld, Nick Marienfeld, and Ella Marienfeld; and one great-grand daughter, Charlotte Maurer; one sister, Karen Maas, brothers, John Maurer and Jeff Maurer; along with several nieces and nephews. 

Denny is preceded in death by his brother, Donny Maurer and sister Nancy Ward. 

He was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1963.  Denny worked for a time as a beer salesman, which led him to purchase his own business, Denny’s Party Store at the age of 24.  Denny & Buzzy raised their children while running the party store.  Denny’s Mom, Peg was a devoted employee.  Denny and family happily ran the store for 10 years.  In 1980, he opened Center Car Wash with Maurer’s Sunshine Carwash following in 1988, both of which are still family owned and operating today. `

Denny cherished many long-time friendships and loved his family dearly.  He enjoyed family cottage weekends in Saugatuck, Sturgis trips on his Harley, and the camaraderie of his fellow 3 Horse members.

A Celebration of his life will be held at Radiant Church (Sycamore Campus – just west of Suburban Lanes) - 142 Sycamore Street, Jackson on Thursday, July 9, 2026 with visitation begining at 11:00am with the service following at 12:00pm.
