Dennis Ethan Howe

Dennis E. Howe passed away on June 26, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, dedication, and cherished memories with family and friends.

Dennis was the devoted husband of Linda, with whom he shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering commitment, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this November.

He was a proud and loving father to Bill (Julie) Howe and Scott (Barb) Howe. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Ryan (Lydia) Howe, Morgan Howe, Sydney (Sam) Howe, Madison (Devon) Fuller, and Lauren (Brandon) Bergdoll; three great-grandchildren, with another soon to join the family. Dennis’s greatest pride was his family, and nothing brought him more joy than watching it continue to grow.

A lifelong resident of the Horton and Jackson area, Dennis grew up on his family’s farm, where he learned the values of hard work, integrity, and helping others—qualities that remained with him throughout his life. After graduating from Hanover-Horton High School, he earned both his bachelor’s degree and Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. He enjoyed a successful career with Consumers Power Company before spending nearly three decades with the Charles Richmond Insurance Agency, where he developed lasting friendships while serving his clients with honesty and integrity.

Dennis had many passions. He was an avid reader with a lifelong curiosity and love of learning. He was also a fierce competitor on the trapshooting range, earning induction into the Michigan Trapshooting Hall of Fame in recognition of both his accomplishments and dedication to the sport. Throughout the years, he served as President of the Hanover-Horton School Board, coached youth baseball, and was a past President of the Jackson Area Hockey Association, where he was recognized for his years of dedication and leadership to youth hockey. Those who knew Dennis will remember his quiet strength, steady character, generous spirit, and devotion to his family. He led by example, worked hard, competed with passion. Dennis measured his success not by the honors he received, but by the people whose lives he enriched. Whether as a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, coach, colleague, or friend, he believed that showing up for others was life’s greatest purpose. His quiet strength, integrity, and unwavering devotion to those around him will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, Michigan 49203. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral chapel with Chaplain David Cornwell officiating. Private interment will take place at Horton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
