David "Bubba" C. Ripley

Of Pleasant Lake, age 78, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with ALS on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home.  He was born March 10, 1942 in Mason, Michigan to the late Alden and Marion Ripley.  David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Ripley; two children, Kellie (Patrick) Ludwig, and Kipp (Stephanie) Ripley; six grandchildren, Emily (Jeff) Kinney, Cortney (Caleb) Forner, Casey (Lauren) Ludwig, Jennifer Ripley, Jodi Ripley, and Jake Ripley; and ten great-grandchildren, Stella, Lincoln, Peyton, Luke, William, Adalynn, Madison, Jordyn, Barrett, and Kinsley; niece Jeanette Lamphere, and his many Tuesday and Thursday Hankerd Hills golf buddies.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Laura Erwin; and niece Susan Erwin.  David was an Iron Worker and retired after 32 years.  He was known on the course as Rip and was an avid golfer- occasionally taking a few strokes off his score here and there.  Bubba spent a great deal of time coming up with new projects to work on in his barn and was known as the neighborhood go-to guy, often helping others repair things the right way- Bubba's way.  He also enjoyed travelling to Florida with his wife, winning (and losing) big at the casino, and spending time with his fun loving family. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A small Celebration of David’s life will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Tuesday, February 23 at 12:00 PM with Chaplin Greg Grotbeck officiating. The service will be live streamed as well through watson-funeral-chapels.com by clicking on the gold box after selecting David Ripley’s photo for those who are unable to attend.   A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Please respect all COVID-19 restrictions; masks are required for all entering the building, with a capacity limit of 25 at a time.  The family has also planned a “Celebration of Bubba’s Life” golf outing at Hankerd Hills on May 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM.  Contact Cortney Forner for more information and to register.
