With great faith in the resurrection, David chose to lay down his burdens and enter into the arms of his savior on the day after Easter, April 6, 2026.
David Martin Trombley was born on January 31, 1959, the youngest living child of Martin and Barbara Trombley. David entered the world on his oldest sister Janet’s fourteenth birthday. He shared a special lifelong bond with Janet, and he has waited for six years to be reunited with her.
Along with his sister, Janet Clevenger, he was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Barb (Gauss), Janet’s husband Morris Monroe “Bud” Clevenger, and his dear nephew Mark Clevenger; his brother Tom Trombley and sister-in-law Charlene Trombley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Douglas and Marilyn La Chapelle, his brother-in-law Leonard Klausing, his infant siblings Jean and Jeff, and many beloved pets. David is survived by his wife, Laura (La Chapelle), his children, Kory, Rebekah (partner Trevor Knickerbocker), Michael, and Brett Trombley (partner Megan Briggs); sisters Terry Klausing and Gail (Al) Smith, and brother Tim Trombley, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and close friends. Growing up on Seventh Street, David formed a lifelong group of friends who attended Queens School and Jackson High School together. David worked at many different jobs over the years, and his favorites were cooking at the Florence Crittenton Home and cleaning Trinity Lutheran School. Caring for the women at the Crittenton Home and interacting with the children at Trinity brought him great joy. David enjoyed many pastimes over the years, but in his later years, he especially enjoyed creating colorful designs for his care team, friends, and family, as well as gardening. Caring for his many plants and
terrariums was his passion. Above all of these, however, David took great joy in watching his four children grow; he reveled in their every accomplishment and loved his family deeply.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 2:00 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Kate Schroeder, with visitation held at the church beginning at 1:00.
