Claire Ehrhardt Vessey

Claire Ehrhardt Vessey, 89, left her earthly body to join her parents in Heavenly splendor on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, with her daughter, Ro, by her side. Claire was born on December 27, 1932 in Jamaica, New York to Oscar and Rose Ehrhardt.

Her dad passed away when she was only 16 years old. Following her marriage, Claire and her husband moved to Jackson, Michigan, along with Claire’s mom. Claire worked many places over the years, including JFP Benefit Management and Westminster Presbyterian Church, until she retired at age 80. Following her retirement, Claire moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, and a load of furry companions, where she resided for 8 years until her move to Arbor Manor in Spring Arbor, Michigan. Claire was a spunky, funny, kind, generous and loving spirit. She enjoyed reading, watching game shows on TV, and sitting in the sunshine on the deck. Her favorite thing, though, was spending time with her many great-grandchildren, sharing snacks, coloring, and telling stories.

Claire is survived by her daughter, Rosanne (Scott) Donner, and their children Corey (Sarah) Donner, Amanda (Phil) Stiles, and Michael (Angela) Donner. She is also survived by a son, Bruce (Mary) Ehrhardt and their children Bruce and David (Emily) Ehrhardt. She also leaves to mourn several great-grandchildren, who were a great joy to her in her final years. Claire’s family would like to thank Arbor Manor Rehabilitation, Henry Ford Jackson (7th floor), and Hospice House for the wonderful care and compassion she received. And also Watson Funeral Home for their assistance with her final wishes.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. If you would like to make a donation in her memory, her favorite charities were for veterans and animals. Rest in Heavenly peace, Mama.
