Cheryl Ruth Norey

Cheryl Ruth Norey, 57, of Jackson Michigan, died on May 31st, 2021. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 22nd, 1963 to Eugene and Gisela Norey.

Cheryl graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School in 1981 and the University of Michigan in 1986. She worked for Michigan Automotive Compressor, Inc, in Jackson Michigan for 31 years in community relations and communications.

Cheryl’s professional and personal life was characterized by service to her community. She was involved in community events, services, and programs that touched many lives. Cheryl served on several boards, among which was the United Way of Jackson County and for which she served as Campaign Co-chair in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, Cheryl was honored as the Person of Achievement by the Jackson Business and Professional Women’s Club for her professional and personal contributions to the community. These activities were driven by her dedication to social justice, feminism, and equity.

Cheryl had a lively interest in the world around her and loved travel, art, and music. She planted trees and rescued cats and she encouraged those around her to do the same. She had a deep appreciation for nature and for cherishing each life, big and small.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Norey. Cheryl is survived by her mother, Gisela; her brothers, Rick (Terri) Norey and Daniel (Millie) Norey; nephews and nieces, Jeffrey (Megan), Jackie (Jake), Evan and Nicole; and great-niece and -nephew, Lyla, and Wyatt. She is also survived by her beloved cats: Callista, Sebastian, Ranger, Leeli, Coco, and Stuart.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Cheryl in September 2021.
