Cheryl L. Enger of Lake Columbia, passed away December 31, 2021 age 65 years. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Byron Crary and his daughters Catherine and Carolyn Crary; sister-in-law Peggy Enger; brother Ron (Cindy) Enger of Mason; sister Julie Enger (Alex Paredes) of Baltimore, MD; two nieces and three nephews Cassie (Rob) Beach, Tessa (Joseph) Farry, Carl Paredes, Luke Paredes and Joe Paredes; great-niece Fiona Farry and great-nephew Conor Farry. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Lorraine (Hansen) Enger and brother David Enger.
Cheryl earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College, majoring in Mathematics, and received her Master of Science degree in Statistics from Iowa State University. She went on to earn her PhD in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University while employed there, eventually becoming an Assistant Professor. She was currently employed as a Senior Epidemiologist at Optum in Ann Arbor. Cheryl was devoted to her family and friends, offering a helping hand whenever needed and often hosting gatherings and celebrations at the home she shared with Byron. Cheryl was an avid reader and traveler, and loved music. She was an accomplished organist and pianist, and a member of the Jackson Chorale. Cheryl and Byron enjoyed ballroom dancing and were members of several dancing clubs.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on January 22, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1505 W. Michigan Avenue in Jackson, Pastor Kate Schroeder officiating. Visitation will take place at the church starting at 2:00 pm and a luncheon will follow the service.
