Of Jackson, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at home at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Hazel (Wagoner) Kepus, of 61 years who was always at his side. He was the son of John and Irene (Falkowski) Kepus, born January 27, 1939 in Detroit, MI. Chuck and Hazel had three children, Jeff (Rose) Kepus, Leslie (Jeff) Gerkin, and Tracy Swan; grandchildren, Justyne (Blake) Speckman, Jairen (Jenna) Swan, Brennan (Alex) Hagberg, Emily Gerkin, Natalie Gerkin, and Emily Correa; great-grandchildren, Bryon, Lillian, Ron, Noelle, Emmy, Remi, Avery, Easton, and Henry; brothers, Jerry (Margi) Kepus, Donald (Diane) Kepus, and Johnny Kepus; sisters-in-law, Maxine Schulte, Carolyn Stepnick, Barbara Wagoner, Charlene Wagoner, Fran Kepus; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; he was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jean Jankowski, Richard Kepus, Theodore Kepus, and Patricia Eudy.
Chuck was a Class of 1957 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Toledo, OH. He attended the University of Toledo, University of Maryland and Arkansas State Teachers College. He then served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as a B52 Flight Crew Member for four years stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas and Goose Bay, Labrador. Following his service, he worked as Vice President of Merchandising at Sysco Corporation and retired as Director of Procurement from Dawn Foods Corporation in Jackson, MI. Chuck enjoyed bowling, tennis, cross-word puzzles, card games, and was a voracious reader, but golf was his passion.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held at the Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church, 1111 Carlton Blvd., Jackson, MI 49203 on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 12:00pm with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the time of service.
