Charles Merton Smith of Horton, Michigan, passed on to glory Wednesday, July 2nd , 2025 at Brightside Assisted Living in Jackson, Michigan.
Born August 5th , 1936 to Harry and Myrtle Smith of Concord, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Bonnie, two daughters, Kelly (Steve) Pitchford of Jackson and Lynda (David) Wooden of Concord. Grand Children, Jennifer(Seth) Wellsted, Colin (Jenn) Ellsworth, Devon (Florence) Ellsworth, Christian Riske and Alexis Riske and 13 Great Grand Children.
He graduated from Concord High School and studied many long hours to earn an additional diploma from ICS in drafting and mathematics. He worked for the Jackson County Road Commission, then as a wood Pattern Maker from which he retired. Later in life he became a Licensed Contractor.
Charlie enjoyed hunting & fishing, searching for arrowheads, refinishing antiques and Heritage homes and spending time with family and numerous friends. He had an amazing talent for carving fish and waterfowl, and they practically came to life with a touch of his paint brush.
According to his request, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Charlie’s Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Concord, on Wednesday July 9th , with Visitation at 10 AM and the service at 11 AM. Pastor Steve Kaszar officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
