Catheryn "Cathy" Cielen Obituary

Catheryn Candy (Ludwig) Cielen, Age 72, of Spring Arbor Township, passed away on November 10, 2025. 

Catheryn was born on August 29, 1953 in Jackson, Michigan to Merlin and Bernadette (Dalrymple) Ludwig. She is a graduate of Napoleon High School and completed two years at Jackson Community College. 

She was married to her best friend and love of her life, Michael S. Cielen for fifty-four years, and together they had a daughter, Michelle (Kenneth) Kerr; son, Michael Cielen; and son, Matthew (Elizabeth) Cielen. 

Cathy worked in food service at Point East, Gilberts, and Jackson Harness Raceway, Reserve Casino in Henderson, Nevada, and early in her life, ran a daycare service from home, worked in real estate with McConkey Real Estate, and owned C&C Pretzel inside the Westwood mall. She retired from True Community Credit Union. 

She loved playing Bingo and spending time with all of her four-legged animals, and grand-puppies, as well as frequenting antique stores.  She was a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure in Concord, Michigan. 

Cathy is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Michelle; sons, Michael and Matthew; and her brother, Craig Ludwig. 

She is preceded in death by her father, Merlin Ludwig; Bernadette (Ludwig) Thompson; brother, Charles Ludwig; and step-father, Glen Thompson. 

Cathy will be deeply missed by all of her wonderful friends, nieces, nephews, and immediate family.

There will be a Memorial Service in her honor at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Cascade Humane Society and the Henry Ford Hospice Home.
