Blair Bennitt

Blair E. Bennitt, 76, of Clarklake, MI, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Blair was born August 2, 1949, to Edgar and Helene (Grulich) Bennitt in Muskegon, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jane M. Hall, and brother, James F. Bennitt. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy (Battige) Bennitt of Clarklake; his three children: Jason (Amy) of Atlanta, GA., Justin (Marci) of Toledo, OH, and Leah (Sean) Anderson of Jackson, MI; four grandchildren, Samantha, Ethan, Phoebe, and Lydia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a kind and caring husband and an amazing father and role model. He was a fun-loving “Papa” to his Grands, always willing to contend on the “hillbilly” slip-n-slide or fight it out with water guns. He enjoyed attending all his grandkids’ games, recitals, and activities and taught us all that you’re never too old to have your dad go to your games. He modeled being there for others.

Blair graduated from Muskegon High School in1967, and then from Western Michigan University with a degree in Business Administration. He worked in the corporate financial/accounting field for 40+ years, working for several companies, including Sparton Corporation, Hayes Albion, as well as several automotive firms in the Detroit area.

He had a heart for his Lord and a love for those in need, whether it be physical help or spiritual matters. He was a faithful prayer warrior, offering prayer support for those struggling with life’s many issues. He handled the physical property maintenance for Redeemer Lutheran Church for decades and was well-loved and respected in his church for his financial acumen as well. His hobbies included fishing, being outdoors for any reason, baseball and hockey games (both professional and backyard varieties), grilling in the summer, and spending time with family.

Blair lost his battle with an aggressive cancer that progressed rapidly and relentlessly within a two-month period. He fought steadily, with tenacity and all his strength. His persistence was an inspiration and encouragement to all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations to Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County to support this local Food Pantry food distribution, which has been a passionate focus for Blair for many years.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Road, Saturday, February 21, 2026. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The service will be at 11:00 a.m., with a meal following.
