Beverly J. Kent

86, of Jackson, MI took her last breath surrounded by members of her adoring family on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Trellis Gardens in Jackson, MI. She was the daughter of Bill and Bethel Baker, born July 21, 1933 in Litchfield, MI. Bev is survived by her two loving daughters, Sherry (Ed) Piper, and Darcy (Dan) Adams; six grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Porter, Nik (Heather) Parkinson, Andrea Adams, Ashlee (Chad) Sanford, Jennifer (Kris) Shenefield, and Dan (Alison Burton) Piper; seven great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Dru, and Bailee Porter, Kent and Kendyl Sanford, Ryaleigh Piper, and Kavin Shenefield; sister, Candy (Eric) Rasmuson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a truly one of a kind special friend, Marlene Hinkley. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Gordon Kent; her parents; and brother, Herbert Baker.

Bev was a graduate of Brooklyn High School. Following high school, she worked as an interior decorator as well as co-founder of Kent Motors, Inc in 1973 with her husband Gordon from which they retired in 1994. Bev and Gordon were members of the Guys and Dolls Dance Club where they captivated onlookers with their graceful dance moves. They were also members of the Jackson Elks Club. Bev was an elegant lady who loved to entertain. She and Gordon were inseparable and enjoyed spending time together at their second home in Daytona Beach, Florida. The family would like to give a special thank you to Bob and Verna from Southern Care Hospice for their kindness and compassion they displayed while caring for our mother.

We say goodbye to a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived a long and wonderful life, and she was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but will live on in our hearts for generations.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 11:00am with Michael D. Mason officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, 5624 S. Main St., Suite 200, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.

The family will receive friends at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 4:00-7:00pm and on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.
