Betsy Melissa Burns, Age 88, of Spring Arbor, Michigan went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 22, 2026. She was born on January 5, 1938, in Defiance, Ohio to Wayne and Luella Hulbert.
Betsy was preceded in death by her sister Mary Gifford and her son Michael Burns. Betsy is survived by sons, Stephen Burns, Joe (Barb) Burns, Wayne (Brandy) Burns and stepdaughter, Amy Smith; Grandchildren, Kate, Kenny, Saddi, Greg, Mario, James, Anthony, Dalton, Lindsey, Jamie, Brooke, Brennan and Elijah; her sister Ann Delamater; many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Betsy poured her heart into being a Homemaker, Adult Foster Care Owner and Real Estate Broker/Owner. Betsy enjoyed reading and writing to the greater side of thought and consideration. She embraced her faith in God with an undying tenacity. She enjoyed long conversations with the people she loved. She enjoyed the simple life, the kind that made it easy to be her family and friend. She was pure of heart and long with grace. She was sassy, the kind of sassy that caused trouble at times. But if you checked in, she was right where you left her, selflessly loving and ready to meet you right where you needed it the most.
She was the mother of 4 strong sons. Through the good and the bad, she stood by us, never giving up hope for our success and our wellbeing. Mom, you stood tall, it’s our turn, our kid’s turn and their kids to follow. We have your legacy now and hope to make you proud. You will never leave our minds and prayers.
A loving visitation is planned at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road Jackson, MI 49203 on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 4pm until 7pm.
Romans 8:38-39: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
