Beatrice Marybelle Harper, 96, formerly of Marysville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024 at Countryside Manor Assisted Living in Jackson, Michigan. Marybelle was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, on November 29, 1928, to Robert Freeman Colborne and Mabel Edna (Wilbur) Colborne. The family moved to Michigan when Marybelle was 15 days old. She attended Spring Arbor High School and Junior College (Spring Arbor, Michigan) where she met Gerald G. Harper. They were married on May 19, 1951, and celebrated 68 years of marriage prior to Gerald’s passing in 2020. Marybelle held several jobs in the Marysville / Port Huron area, retiring from the Port Huron Public School District. She attended Port Huron Free Methodist Church (now Blue Water Free Methodist Church) and Colonial Woods Missionary Church in Port Huron, Michigan, and quietly lived out her faith in Jesus before her family and friends. Marybelle enjoyed reading, knitting, puzzles, and made fantastic butter tarts. Marybelle is survived by daughter Pam Houser of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; son Jerry (Diana) Harper of South Lyon, Michigan; son Wesley (Danette) Harper of Spring Arbor, Michigan; son Darrell (Shirlee) Harper of McPherson, Kansas; nephew Stephen (Phyllis) Wickman of McLean, Virginia; nine grandchildren and their spouses; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Helen Wickman and Doris Arlene Colborne.
